A Girl Has No Right to Choose

 

Senior High School students should be studying, exploring something relating lesson, consistent, persistence in chasing their dreams. Being a good student does not only achieving high score in testing but also having growth mindset. A growth mindset is a willingness and an effort to increase an intelligence level and abilities to develop their selves to be active, creative, innovative, and productive in creating something benefit for their selves and others. A student having such condition above will be different with a student whom I know.  She is in the eleventh grade. Like most of her friends, she is such a cheerful girl and has many things to reach.  She ever told me that she wanted to continue studying at the university.  However, there something happens in her life. In the village where she lives, early marriage still exists. The tradition shows that parents having a girl who is considered adult after menstruation will marry off her. This early marriage is taking place due to poverty and a year of widower. People assume that if a man and a woman marry in that year, it must be a debilitating grief of losing a spouse. Many people in that village believe that myth. Therefore, She cannot be free and full to make an informed decision about a life partner. Her parents force her to marry at under 17 years old. They encourage their daughter's marriage in hopes that it will give benefits financially and socially. This human right violation limit her to express the views freely, and reduce the life's choice. She knows she can't cope with that kind of rejection. She ever considered leaving home, but she had no idea how to even go about finding somewhere new. It's the really sad of her life. Who to blame, then?
